Berhampur: Adaba police in Gajapati district on Sunday arrested a Sarpanch’s husband on charges of impregnating a minor girl, a student of Std 9. The man, Mansi Mandal was nabbed by the police from Habudapanka today morning, Adaba police informed.
According to the complaint filed by the girl’s father, the accused established physical relation with her on several occasions by intimidating her. After her parents discovered about her pregnancy, the girl revealed the ordeal.
Mandal, the husband of a local Sarpanch has been booked on charges of rape and under the POCSO Act and will be forwarded to the court today, the police added. Meanwhile, the minor girl was being counselled by the local Mohana Childline.
