Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance has so far unearthed movable and immovable assets worth crores of rupees in the name of Rabinarayan Panda, Assistant Executive Engineer RWS&S Udala Sub-Division, and his family members during searches.
The anti-graft agency conducted simultaneous house searches on the properties and locations connected with Panda following allegation of amassing assets disproportionate to his know sources of income, said an official press release.
The list of properties unearthed by the Vigilance so far are one triple storeyed building having a plinth area of 4865 Sqft. over plot No.992 KC-01, Kharvel Complex, Aiginia, Khandagiri, Bhubaneswar; One 2 BHK Flat No.401 in 4th floor D-Block, “Tower Blue Hill” Apartment at Patrapara, Bhubaneswar; 12 numbers of plots including 5 plots in a prime area of Bhubaneswar, 2 plots in Cuttack and 5 plots in Kendrapara; Bank & Insurance deposits worth over Rs 1.20 crore; Gold approx 1 Kg; Cash Rs.26.9 Lakhs (Rs. 25 Lakhs recovered from the living room of Soumit Panda (son of Rabi Narayan Panda) and his wife Sagarika Swain (in their presence) in the house of her father located at Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar where they were frequently residing; 4 four wheelers (TATA Hexa, TATA Yodha, Mahindra Thar & Maruti Suzuki Ritz) worth over Rs 45 lakhs; and 3 two wheelers worth Rs 2.67 lakhs.
The Vigilance has said that its Technical Wing is carrying out detailed measurement and valuation of the aforementioned buildings and plots.
The agency has further said that Panda is being examined to ascertain the source of the assets while further searches are continuing.
Unearthing of more assets is likely to increase as inquiry is in progress, it added.
As many as eight teams of the Vigilance led by 1 Addl. SP, 8 DSPs, 5 Inspectors, 1 Sub-Inspectors, 11 ASIs, and other staff are conducting search at eight places in Bhubaneswar, Kendrapara, and Udala on the strength of search warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
