Bhubaneswar: Claiming to be unwell and under home isolation, Ollywood producer Akshay Kumar Parija today skipped his appearance before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) here in connection with blackmailer Archana Nag case.
The ED had on Friday served summons to Parija to appear before it today at noon to record his statement in connection with the money laundering case against Nag and three others.
“The ED had yesterday served summons to popular Odia film producer Akshay Kumar Parija for appearing before it today. Parija returned from Bangkok yesterday. He is unwell and as per the advice of the doctor, keeping with Covid protocol he is under quarantine in home isolation,” informed Parija’s counsel Akash Bhuyan to reporters.
Bhuyan said that on behalf of his client he accordingly appraised the ED and sought time for the former’s appearance which has been allowed by the ED.
“He (Parija) is suffering from cough and cold. Though the next date has not been finalized we will be appearing before the ED very soon,” Bhuyan stated.
A video of Parija in intimate positions with a girl had gone viral.
Later Parija filed a complaint against the girl and Archana Nag at the Nayapalli police station here.
He had alleged that the girl had invited him to her house for dinner and had recorded the video.
Parija had stated in his complaint that Nag was involved in a sextortion racket. Impersonating herself as a lawyer, she had blackmailed him threatening to tarnish his reputation, Parija said in the complaint.
She claimed that she was in possession of his objectionable videos and photographs with a girl, who was her client, Parija had alleged in his complaint.
Nag is in judicial custody for allegedly demanding Rs 3 crore from Parija and threatening him to make his objectionable videos and photographs public.
