Bhubaneswar: The World Skill Centre (WSC) on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ABB India Ltd (ABB) to collaborate in the field of Robotics for the automation industry.
The objective of the MoU is to facilitate knowledge transfer and develop WSC staff and students in the area of Robotics Technology, said an official press release.
According to the press release, this will support WSC staff under the Train-the-Trainer programme as part of WSC staff capability development. It will also jointly develop a curriculum in the above technology for incorporation in relevant courses.
ABB will provide 50 Robot Studio Network Licenses at no cost to WSC for training for three years. However, these licenses have to be renewed on an annual basis by submitting a declaration that these network licenses are only for educational use to instruct students and not for any commercial purpose. Robot Studio network licenses will be governed by the existing ABB policy.
ABB shall provide up to two training places per year for selected WSC staff under the Train-the-Trainer programme, as part of WSC staff capability development.
ABB will support by waiving the course fees for WSC staff when they attend their certification course at ABB, Bangalore. WSC will bear the expenses for the air tickets, accommodation, and staff allowances incurred during the training conducted at ABB.
Among others, Local Business Line Manager of ABB Robotics John Leo Ignatius, CEO of World Skill Center Alka Mishra, Principal of WSC Sangaran Gopal, Director of WSC Cheok Eng Choon, Director of WSC Suppiah Nagammal, Director of WSC Kerwin Hing, Deputy Director of WSC Subhasis Das, Sushree S Sahoo, Ashutosh N Dey, Deputy Principal of WSC Dr Subhanga K Das and Addl. Director of the Department Pinaki Pattnaik were present.
