Bhubaneswar: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch seized two leopard skins and other wildlife products from the possession of a wildlife criminal in Nayagarh district on Friday.
On the basis of reliable information regarding dealing or possession of wildlife products by wildlife criminals, a team of STF conducted raid with the help of Banigochha Forest Officials near Kuanria Dam under Dasapalla police limits in the district.
As a result of which one wildlife criminal namely Bhagabat Majhi alias Ramesh of Bhogabadi village under Dasapalla police limits was apprehended.
During search, two leopard skins with other wildlife products were recovered from his possession. He could not produce any authority in support of possession of such wildlife
products, for which was arrested and forwarded to the court of JMFC, Dasapalla.
A case in this regard was registered under relevant sections of IPC, Arms Act, and Wild Life (Protection) Act. Further investigation into the case is underway.
