Keonjhar: Carcasses of a female elephant and its calf have been found near Kuliapal inside the Kalapat reserve forest under Telkoi forest range in Keonjhar district today.
On being informed by locals, Forest department officials have rushed to the spot and are conducting an inquiry.
According to reports, some locals after spotting the carcasses of a female elephant and its calf in the forest near Kuliapal on Monday immediately informed the Forest department.
It is suspected that the female elephant died after delivering the calf around a week back.
