Bargarh: A 22-year-old youth was allegedly beaten to death by a group of assailants in Barpali here on Sunday. The deceased, identified as Yogeshwar Meher was attacked with deadly weapons and blows while coming from Rampur on a bike.
Police rescued him while he was lying in a pool of blood at Bali Tikra area and rushed him to Barpali government hopital where Meher was declared dead. Barpali police have registered a case in this connection following autopsy of the deceased.
According to sources, the motorcycle of a person was stolen from Bali Tikra area on October 27, and the victim in this case held Meher responsible for the theft. A case was also registered with the local police in this connection.
Sources added that it the theft could be the cause behind this attack. Meher was a native of Gajabandha village in Subarnapur district. IIC Barpali, Rojalin Patel is leading the investigation of this murder case.
