Koraput: The BSF on Thursday organised a Civic Action Programme, Health Camp and Dog Show at its camp at Porhapadar under Narayanpatna block in Koraput district.
The programme was organized in keeping with an aim to connect with the marginalized section of society.
The BSF distributed clothing, stationeries, and utensils to the villagers of Majhiamba, Borigunda, Bachanaput and Porhapadar. Health check-up of around 250 villagers and students were conducted at the camp.
IG, Frontier BSF Odisha, Dhaneshwar Kr Sharma DIG, Sector Koraput BSF Madan Lal, and Commandant 155 Bn BSF Antaryami Kumar were present during the programme.
While Kumar briefed about the present security scenario and operational preparedness of his unit, Sharma took stock of the prevailing Left Wing Extreme (LWE) situation and the response of security forces to the menace.
The main focus was on the strategic and tactical deployment of the forces in the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh bordering areas and development in far-flung areas.
While interacting with reporters, Sharma stated, “Our endeavour here in LWE affected area is to bring the misguided youths back into the mainstream of society. Local youths who have completed their education of desirable level will be provided with proper guidance about their career in BSF and other CAPFs”.
Also, BSF offensive against the LWE outfits would be intensified and simultaneously in addition to the operational activities to check Naxal/anti-social activities, BSF will keep conducting welfare activities such as public outreach programme, Tribal Youth Exchange programme, medical camps, sports activities etc, he said.
This would certainly go a long way in consolidating this strong relationship between local people and BSF, such programme addresses the instant necessary requirement of the local populace and also provides an opportunity to interact on common platforms, he added.
Among others, Dr Biswajit Das, CHC Narayanpatna, Sandip Kr Mohanty, Branch Manager SBI Narayanpatna along with Field Officer Chhatrapal and students of Bachanaput Primary School and faculty joined the event and appreciated the programme of BSF.
During the event, a cultural programme “Folk Koi Dance” was organized by school girls to display local culture and traditions.
