Puri: A photo of Lord Jagannath from inside the Srimandir, posted on social media has raised concerns on vigilance on devotees entering the 12th Century shrine.
The photo was taken from Jagmohan and was posted on Facebook by one – Akash Choudhury with a note in Bengali which translates to:
“This moment will never be forgotten in my life. Today I could do the darshan of Lord Jagannath, I will never forget this moment ever in my life.”
While a case has been filed by Shree Jagannath Temple Administration in this matter with Singhadwar police, the question remains, how this person managed to carry a smartphone inside the heavily guarded Jagannath temple.
Such an incident is not new though, as devotees managed to enter the shrine with phones due to poor frisking near Singhadwar. It remains to be seen what action is initiated in this matter and if surveilance and security is further tightened.
According to Section 30-A (4-C) of the Jagannath Temple Act, people cannot take cameras into the temple. The violation of this Act is a punishable offence which attracts imprisonment up to two months and a fine of Rs 1,000.
