Bhubaneswar: Basing on the decision of the High Level Drug Disposal Committee led by IG Southern Range Satyabrata Bhoi, ganja weihging 2.03 tonnes was destroyed at a designated incinerator in Arakhapada in Ganjam district.
The drugs destroyed today were seized by R Udyagiri police (Gajapati district) in 2 NDPS cases registered in 2020. SP, STF, Bhubaneswar, SP, Gajapati, and other members of the committee were also present at the site.
The seized drugs was first authenticated/certificated by court concerned and handed over to High Level Drug Disposal Committee for the disposal/ destruction.
Till date Odisha Police has disposed/destructed more than 240 quintals of ganja in 79 NDPS cases and around 13 kh brown sugar in 10 cases.
