Cuttack: As many as 30 gamblers were arrested by the Jagatpur police on Sunday evening from Paga Sahi here. The police acted on a tip-off on an operational gambling den in Paga Sahi. A team led by sub inspector Dillip Mohanty raided the spot along with Special Squad, Cuttack UPD and arrested 30 persons.
One O Krishan Rao, a resident of Malgodam area was the organiser of the illegal acticvity in his house which he bought through bank auction, the police said. Cash of Rs 8.04 lakh and 31 mobile phones were seized from the spot.
The police also seized 4 motorcycles, 16 packets of playing card, one plastic jar containing gambling tokens from the house of Rao, who is himself a veteran gambler. Rao has a history of being arrested in multiple case of gambling, said ACP Arun Swain.
